About Tanya Fryson
Owner of Snack Crush (formerly Crunchy Fruit Queen), I blend my Filipino heritage and global inspirations into vibrant treats. My candied fruits feature seasonal produce and secret candy recipes for a satisfying crunch. I craft Filipino-style dirty sodas using tropical flavors like ube, pandan, and mango, celebrating the playful spirit of merienda culture. My fresh-squeezed lemonades infuse classic refreshment with fruits from my Manila upbringing, such as calamansi and pineapple. Inspired by New Orleans cuisine, I created sweet heat bowls that honor bold, soulful flavors in a modern format. My lumpia reimagines a beloved Filipino dish, combining tradition with creativity to evoke warmth and nostalgia.
Beyond food, I’ve built a career in education since 2010, supporting students with autism, emotional and behavioral disorders, and intellectual disabilities. Currently, I serve as a Basic Skills Interventionist at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary, helping students close learning gaps in reading and math. A lifelong Charleston resident, I’m a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I enjoy fitness, family time, and life in Nitro/Dunbar with my husband Dave and our child Malaya.
